The Archery Championships were held during the month of July, 1972 in Luxembourg.


Robert Schuman Medal

20th Anniversary of European Coal and Steel Community

Date of Issue: May 2, 1972

The European Coal and Steel Community was the first European organization and had its headquarters in Luxembourg. Its mission was to set up a Common Market for coal and steel so that it could circulate freely amongst six member countries. Robert Schuman, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, but born in Luxembourg, was the architect of the ECSC.


European Court of Justice

Date of Issue: September 11, 1972

The Court of Justice of the European Communities is located on the Kirchberg plateau. The 5-storey building opened in 1973 and the surrounding plaza features sculputures by Henry Moore and Luxembourger Lucien Wercollier.


National Monument of Solidarity

Date of Issue: September 11, 1972

This monument was inaugurated on October 10, 1971 by Grand Duke Jean and Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte. It is dedicated to the memory of all the people of Luxembourg who helped in the struggle for freedom of the country during World War II.


Rénert the Fox by Michel Rodange

Centenary of Publication

Rénert the Fox was an epic satirical work by Michel Rodange. It is well known for its inciteful analysis of the unique characteristics of the people of Luxembourg.
